Dead City: A Refreshing Change for The Walking Dead Universe?"

The Walking Dead: Dead City

The Walking Dead: Dead City is the newest addition to the rapidly expanding multi-franchise world of The Walking Dead. It premiered on AMC in June, around seven months after the finale of the original show.

I was pleasantly surprised to see AMC promoting a new addition so quickly, especially since it includes major characters from the original show such as Maggie and Negan. But the biggest surprise is that Dead City is not bad. This is a big change from recent Walking Dead spinoffs, which have been disappointing.

The first spinoff, Fear The Walking Dead, started off strong and became a great show in its third season. Then the showrunner left and new showrunners were appointed. The show immediately fell apart, with writing that was extremely poor and stories that were bizarre and unbelievable. This led to a complete tonal shift and the destruction of its original characters.

AMC did nothing to address the problems with Fear The Walking Dead. For five seasons, the show continued to decline in writing, plot, and production quality. In its final season, Fear The Walking Dead was barely watchable. It seemed like everyone involved wanted it to be bad.

The situation was not much different in World Beyond. Although the show tried to be different from Fear The Walking Dead, it ultimately failed. And Even The Walking Dead, after recovering somewhat from its disastrous seventh and eighth seasons, failed spectacularly in its final season by being incredibly boring.

Dead City, after three episodes, is bucking this trend. It seems like the show's creators are doing their best to make it good. The first episode was extremely bad, but it came back strong in the second and third episodes.

I agree with this change, AMC. Maybe making new Walking Dead shows not bad is a sign that the network is finally bringing in new talent with fresh ideas. This could make the world of The Walking Dead feel refreshed and exciting again. And it could be positive for fans who are expecting more zombie shows in the future.

Overall, it seems like Dead City is trying to avoid the mistakes made by previous shows. It is delivering a more thrilling and suspenseful story with more exciting events. The show also promises some new additions to the characters, which are being introduced well so far.

It is too early to judge Dead City completely until the end of the first season. However, based on the first few episodes, it seems like the show is off to a good start. It is interesting to see new shows being presented in the world of The Walking Dead after the end of the original show. This could be the dawn of a new era for zombie fans.

Here are some additional thoughts on Dead City:

  • The show is set in New York City, which is a refreshing change of pace from the usual setting of the Walking Dead universe.
  • The characters are well-developed and likable, even the new ones.
  • The action sequences are exciting and well-choreographed.
  • The show is suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Overall, I am enjoying Dead City and I am looking forward to seeing where the show goes in the future.
